History of the Company

Peter Lewis founded Market Enterprize in 1963, mainly as a hobby whilst he was working for Caxton Chocolate. The Company was formed to develop and introduce a wide range of inclusions and sundae toppings to the British Ice Cream Industry.

Peter's son Andrew joined his Father working for Market Enterprize in 1982 when Peter decided to take early retirement from Caxton Chocolate and the Company progressed from strength to strength.

Peter's daughter-in-law, Caroline joined the Company in 2001 when she was looking to remain active whilst on maternity leave with Andrew and Caroline's first child, Luca. In the same year Market Enterprize was introduced to the Italian Flavour House - Comprital of Milan and a partnership was formed as Market Enterprize became Comprital's UK distributor for their sophisticated products designed for ice cream and sorbet. Comprital's, Technical Director, Dr Fabrizio Osti has been an "inspiration" to Market Enterprize, who has been a fantastic support with his technical knowledge and expertise.

Peter played an active role in Market Enterprize until the age of 82 and it is with great sadness that he passed away in July 2007. He will be remembered as a "true gentleman", who is sadly missed by his family, friends, customers and competitors alike.
